This week marks a momentous occasion for our revolutionary technology, CyberKnife – our newest treatment machine for radiation therapy has officially turned one year old! It's hard to believe that 12 months have passed since we treated our first brain cancer patient with CyberKnife, setting the stage for a remarkable journey in the field of cancer treatment.

In the initial month following its debut, CyberKnife expanded its capabilities by successfully treating spine and then prostate cancer patients. Since then, its momentum has been building steadily, and we are thrilled that it has now completed treatment for a significant number of ARO patients.

Looking ahead, CyberKnife is gearing up to treat liver cancers, with the plan to extend its reach to pancreatic and lung cancers in the near future. The advancements made in the past year showcase CyberKnife's potential to revolutionise treatment for many types of cancer.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated teams at ARO who have played a pivotal role in making CyberKnife's first year a series of significant milestones. The Physics team has diligently managed the set up and ongoing checks of CyberKnife, ensuring its optimal performance. The Radiation Therapists have collaborated with our Radiation Oncologists to create effective treatment plans for radiation therapy with CyberKnife, and have also been instrumental in ensuring impeccable delivery of those plans.

Our Radiation Oncologists have been crucial in identifying suitable patients for CyberKnife's treatments. In fact, every member of the ARO family (including our nurses, schedulers and administrators) have played a part in making CyberKnife's first year a resounding success.

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend huge gratitude to everyone at ARO for their commitment to the CyberKnife programme. The collaboration and dedication of each team member has truly made a difference in the lives of the patients treated with CyberKnife.
